A culture-based approach to sustainability? – International Seminar

On Monday, April 15th, Irene Bianchi participated in the international Seminar: “A Culture-based Approach to Sustainability? Exploring the role of Cultural and Creative Industries in advancing the SDG agenda.”

The Seminar, organised by Econcult – University of Valencia and by Asociación INNOPAC delved into how culture and cultural actions can serve as a catalyst for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and reflected on the positive impact of cultural interventions on gender equality, social welfare, climate change, and urban sustainability transition. 

Irene participated in a session dedicated to the transformative potential of cultural practices for changing territories, discussing questions at the core of some of the CALL research projects, i.e. MESOC – Measuring the Social Impact of Culture (2020-2023) and PALIMPSEST – Creative Drivers for Sustainable Living Heritage research projects (2023-2026).

The insights gained from this symposium will inform the curriculum of an upcoming summer course “Culture-driven Approach for Sustainability: Global Practices in the Cultural and Creative Industries”.
