DIGIREG – Territorial perspectives of digital transition in European regions is an ESPON project aimed at shedding light on the roots, development and spread of digital divides across and within European regions. DIGIREG will provide fresh insights by developing and applying a conceptual and analytical framework to assess digital cohesion among these regions. The project will conduct applied research to identify key trends and analyze the factors driving territorial digital divides. A key focus will be on how socio-spatial variables influence digital transition pathways at the regional level. DIGIREG will also examine successful policy initiatives that have effectively reduced digital divides, within and between Eu regions. Ultimately, DIGIREG aims to offer valuable guidance and practical recommendations for national, regional, and local administrations working on digital transition roadmaps to increase their digital capabilities and meet the goals set out in Europe’s Digital Decade.
