The kickoff meeting for the European research project “Territorial Perspectives of Digital Transition in European Regions (DIGIREG)” was held today in Luxembourg at the ESPON Headquarter, bringing together experts and stakeholders from across the continent.

Led by Grazia Concilio on behalf of DASTU/Politecnico di Milano, the DIGIREG project aims to provide crucial evidence on the development and territorial diffusion of digital divides, with a focus on understanding the drivers behind these disparities. The research will also analyze available data at various territorial scales to offer an in-depth overview of digital transition trends across different types of European regions.

DIGIREG’s final goal is to support national, regional, and local administrations in creating digital transition roadmaps that align with the objectives of Europe’s Digital Decade. By addressing key socioeconomic impacts of the digital transition, the project will help shape policies that promote more equitable access to digital technologies and services, ensuring that no region is left behind in Europe’s digital transformation.

The project is being carried out by an international consortium of partners led by Polimi and including: Progress Consulting (Italy), Metrex (France), and Deloitte (Luxembourg and Portugal). Together, they will work closely with regional authorities and other key stakeholders to provide actionable insights and recommendations that will help reduce digital inequalities and foster inclusive growth across the continent.
