CALL in Brussels for the New European Bauhaus Fair 2026

What does co-creation look like at European scale? Last week, in Brussels, the New European Bauhaus Fair 2026 offered an inspiring answer, and CALL was part of it.

Grazia Concilio and Talita Medina represented CALL at the Fair with the PALIMPSEST project, dedicated to cultural heritage, community participation and urban transformation. Concluded in April 2026, PALIMPSEST’s ideas and tools arrived in Brussels very much alive.

PALIMPSEST is part of NEBULE, a cluster of 10 Horizon Research & Innovation projects linked to the New European Bauhaus, distinctive for the variety of its partners: social sciences and humanities, arts and technology, cultural and creative industries, academia, public institutions and civic associations. Last week they were all in dialogue, working toward more sustainable, inclusive and meaningful futures.

Grazia Concilio, who coordinates PALIMPSEST and leads CALL’s research activities, had the opportunity to present the project’s vision and achievements to EU Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva (responsible for Start-ups, Research and Innovation) and to Enrico Giovannini, scientific director of ASviS (the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development) and former Italian Minister. These encounters are a recognition that research grounded in places and communities holds strong meaning for those shaping European policy.

On display at the NEBULE stand were four concrete outputs from the PALIMPSEST journey: the PALIMPSEST Handbook, the Łódź Toolkit, the SONE Catalogue, and the Ceramic Rainflower. The NEB Fair 2026 was a reminder that a project’s life does not end with its closing report, and that the methods, relationships, and questions that PALIMPSEST worked through continue on.
