Insights from a successful study day: “Planning for climate neutrality: Governance models in dialogue”
Envisioning Translocality
Enabling Institutions
Enforcing Practices
Building on the dialogue among Horizon Europe projects working on climate neutrality, this study day hosted at CRAFT at Politecnico di Milano offered a comparative discussion on the climate transition pathways, also building on the experience of four Italian cities.
The event brought together policy specialists, researchers, students and more. The event concluded with a roundtable reflection exploring the relationship between climate action and both general and sectoral urban planning.
The main focus? Cities participating in the Mission “100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities” have developed and are currently implementing Climate City Contracts, strategic planning instruments aimed at achieving climate neutrality. In some cases, these contracts serve as guiding frameworks for structuring actions and decisions across different urban governance sectors; in others, they complement existing plans and strategies already in place.
