Democratizing the Green Deals. Participation and deliberation in the co-design of environmental transition policies.

Il dibattito accademico e politico sulla transizione ambientale – specialmente nell’ambito del cosiddetto “Green Deal” – sottolinea generalmente l’importanza del coinvolgimento attivo di attori sociali ed economici nella co-progettazione di politiche ambientali a lungo termine. In questa prospettiva, lo sviluppo di “Green Deal” e “Patti” è stato il campo di prova per sperimentare metodi innovativi per coinvolgere attori della società nella co-progettazione di patti, politiche, azioni e strategie a diverse scale. Questo incontro mira a confrontare tre diversi casi di ampia partecipazione nella formulazione di patti ambientali, investigando da un lato le metodologie e gli strumenti utilizzati per coinvolgere e deliberare in contesti partecipativi, e dall’altro esplorando gli effetti della partecipazione sia sulla presa di decisioni politiche, sia sulla prospettiva e sul comportamento degli individui e delle organizzazioni partecipanti.

Democratizing the Green Deals.  Participation and deliberation in the co-design of environmental transition policies

Academic and political discourse over environmental transition – especially within the framework of the so-called “Green Deal” – generally emphasizes the relevance of the active involvement of social and economic actors in the co-design of long-term environmental transition policies. In this perspective, the development of “Green Deals” and “Pacts” has been the testbed to experiment innovative methods to engage societal actors in the co-design of pacts, policies, actions, and strategies at different scales.  This meeting aims to compare three different cases of broad participation in the formulation of green pacts, investigating on the one hand the methodologies and tools used to involve and deliberate in participatory settings, and on the other hand exploring the effects of participation both on political decision making, and in the perspective and behavior of the participating individuals and organizations.
