On Thursday, November 13th, the Lambrogino Prize, together with IMMACCHINARIUM, was presented during the Contratti di Fiume working day, in dialogue with numerous actors engaged in the future of the Lambro river territory.

From the standpoint of CALL’s research trajectory and within the Horizon Europe project PALIMPSEST, Prof. Grazia Concilio framed the prize as a generative mechanism designed to activate and sustain virtuous environmental practices ; acknowledging the Lambro as a living entity that requires care, reciprocity, and long-term responsibility.

Set in the extraordinary context of Villa Borromeo d’Adda, the “impossible machine” by artists Gethan & Myles, installed beneath the Liberty canopy, became a symbolic reminder that environmental sustainability must begin from what already exists. Through incremental triggers and grafts, even what initially appears impossible can make space for new alliances and relationships.

An informal call was launched to the municipalities and organisations present to highlight and share associative practices that creatively combine artistic engagement with sustainable environmental actions around the river. The day continued with an open dialogue around the three artistic proposals developed by Legambiente Monza, Cascina Biblioteca, and Osservatorio Lambro Lucente, exploring visions, requirements, and potentials.

For CALL, this gathering represented a meaningful step forward: a moment in which reflection, creativity, and territorial action converged, reinforcing the role of research in enabling collective learning through place-based practices along the Lambro.
